Metaphor

Metaphors are a kind of figurative language. Metaphors are a comparison of two things with a similar quality by saying one object is the other.

One example of a metaphor is: The teacher is a dragon. The main object is the teacher. The comparison is the dragon. The meaning of the phrase is that she is really angry.

People can describe things like: someone voice, weather, appetite, and ect.

LI: To describe things by metaphors.

Swimming Lessons

For our second session for swimming, we learned new skills. First skill I practised was freestyle. I had put my body flat, then move my arms in and out of the water, also kicking my feet. We did that two times to get us ready.

The next skill I practised was streamline with the kickboard. I put my hands straight up with the kickboard, then I kicked my way to the other side. This was a warm up.

The third skill I practised was backstroke with the kickboard. I lay on my back and then put the board above your knee's, we went back and fourth.

The fourth skill I practised was backstroke streamline. I lay on my back and put my hands straight up together. The last skill I did was submerging. I had to swim under water and go swim through the hoop.

I enjoyed practising swimming and I swam better today.

Similes

Similes are a kind of figurative language. Similes are a comparison of two things using "like" or "as...as".

"Like" similies are used for actions. Some examples using "like" are:

Usain Bolt runs like lighting.
Ken jumps high like a frog.
Elaario exploded like a volcano.

"As...as" similies are used for adjectives. Some examples using "as...as" are:

Josh is as small as a mouse.
Finn is as wise as  an owl.
David is as light as a feather.

Similes help compare two things with figurative language.
