Celebrating the Summer Learning Journey

L.I: To celebrate our PBS SLJ participants.

When doing the Summer Learning Journey I really enjoyed the activities set and also had fun doing enjoyable challenges from Nano Girl. Today I got a certificate for participating in the SLJ. The two members from SLJ Mrs Grant and Miss Paleti presented the prizes to us. Congrats to Sakshi which who was - PBS top blogger, top commenter, and top blogger for manaiakalani.

There was only four speakers and the people who got it was - Te Raumati, Chisa, Heavenly, and Bella. Our School was top school for the Summer Learning Journey.

I was happy that our school was top school for SLJ and hope we win again next year.

PB4L - Behaviour On The Bus

L.I: To have good behaviour when on the bus.

For this activity we made a DLO of how to behave on the bus. We could make a video or just write the sentences down. When doing the DLO we couldn't use words like no, not or dont/do not.

When getting onto the bus we have to make sure that we are thanking the bus driver when exiting the bus and entering the bus. When going to or on the bus make sure you are lined up sensibly.

I found this activity fun because we got to share our ideas.

For The Ancestors

L.I: To understand the reciprocal reading process.

Our activity for reading was summarising a text. The text is called For the Ancestors. It's about a girl named Matalena who wanted to carry on her fathers legacy by proving that she a good leader. To show that she was a leader she needed to get a tattoo. In Samoa the word for Tattoo is Tatau. Matalena wanted to get a Tatau called the Malu. A Malu is a traditional Samoan Tatau that is only used for females. The Malu is supposed to represent their strength, caring and softness. In the story Matalena avoided getting a Tatau because she was nervous. Later in her life she started to regret not having a Malu. She then went to get one because her father died and she wanted to carry on his legacy.

Throughout the book our group (Kea and Kakapo) grabbed keywords from the book and put it on a piece of paper. After that we put 20 words from our keyword list and put it on our DLO. Then we had to choose 6 important words out of the 20 words. Finally we made sentences out of our 6 words. Those 6 sentences basically summed up the book.

This activity was quite fun because I could relate to some of the things in the book because I'm Samoan. I think me and my group did a good job with the summarising.

LI: To make a DLO about being cybersmart.

This week for cybersmart we made a tutorial to show how to bookmark websites. There are two ways to bookmark, one way is to click the star on the search bar. Then click done so you can show up on your bookmark bar. The second way is pressing ctrl + d, then do the same thing.

This activity was enjoyable because we got to teach others about how to make a new tab.

Cybersmart

L.I: To get motivated and concentration for me to learn about PB4L.

Today for our home learning  we did our PB4L in this activity we maid a DLO about keeping safe when there is a fire alarm. Why is it important to let the teacher know you are going to the bathroom, why is it important to use hand sanitizer, what to do when a fire alarm goes off and why is it important to let the teacher know before you leave the classroom.

One reason why it's important to let the teacher know you're going to the bathroom, because if you don’t it could cause many problems. Like if there was a fire alarm the teacher wouldn’t know where you are, which would make your teacher and your parents worried.

This activity was fun and cool. We had a really enjoyable experience doing this task.

Thousands Number Bank Challenge

First before starting the thousands number bank I started doing my keeping clever slides. I did all three, in one of the activities we had to write the numbers using words.

In the number bank challenge there we could only used the number that was wrote for us. There was questions and make sure it was correct. One question in the number bank was: what is the smallest four - digit number you can make that has 6 in the one place.

I enjoyed this activity because it shows me that I can do higher numbers.
